Most chase goals, dreams or objectives only focusing on the result and not using the experience to evolve, strengthen, or learn about themselves and enjoy life.
Many chasing the sparkle of what they believe the end stop will bring and then continue chasing the next, and the next until the body gives up and they die! It’s the minds game, it needs to have something to work towards or it gets itself into a right old pickle – and we are all doing it! It’s not our fault, we are trained and educated to it, it’s a societal thing, we must be seen to be achieving, doing stuff, working, so we do!
This does not prepare us for the waves in life, let alone know how to ride them. Quite frankly, we are ill prepared for life yet are expected to know how to act and what to do in life.
The thing is, when we slow down, look at what we are really doing and why, we start to become more conscious of our behaviour rather than unconsciously running around like headless chickens trying to achieve all sorts of things. It’s the old adage, it’s about the journey not the finish line, both have relevance, yet one moves your life, the other sparkles you for a short time.
Normally we go form A to B to C to D etc. Be okay with going from A to A1 to A2 to A3 to A4 and usually, you will find B is different or has been changed completely and possibly the journey beyond to B, C and D.
We spend so much time focusing on the future that we lose the experience of what’s going on for us and around us in the moment. It’s like waiting for the final whistle of a team sport for the result, we’ve lost the joy of the experience. It also impacts on those around us as we are not truly being with them, our mind is constantly else were so we are not fully engaged or present.
It’s good to have goals, dreams and objectives, lets just not make these projections your ‘soul’ reason for living. Let’s have fun and enjoy the moments, that’s life!
